At IB Body panels are typically blasted with Soda or fine minerial abrasive
Interior trim parts are blasted with Soda
Rust effected areas, under carriage and suspension components are blasted with fine mineral abrasive.

When a heavier cutting action is required we use a slightly more coarse abrasive (still far finer than industrial blasters),
however those areas are reblasted with our finest abrasive to lessen the profile of the surface and to remove any impurities.

Imperial blasting utilise both fine abrasive blasting as well as the premium service of Soda blasting in order to give you the best finish for your vehicle.

Soda blasting is safe on virtually any material, be it steel, chrome, glass, fiberglass,
carbon fibre, some plastics, rubber, brass, copper, aluminium and MORE!

Soda blasting will not harm seals, bearings or gears, making it safe to use on engines,
gearboxes, diffs, suspension components, window and door mechs, anything you want cleaned that can't be done using normal abrasive blasting or harsh chemicals.
Unlike abrasive blast medias, soda residue will not harm any bearing faces or other delicate surfaces.
(professional bearing tests have found that bicarb soda has NO effect on bearings under load).

Soda blasting is non-sparking and does not create heat, which means it's the only safe way to strip paint
from old fuel tanks and containers.

Ultimately due to the low-friction non heating and non abrasive proporties of Soda, the chance of panel warping are completely removed.

As Bicarb soda is water soluable, clean up is easy, a good wash down of your job will
remove all traces of the blast media. Don't worry, due to the way soda strips the paint from your vehicle, it leaves the protective skin of the steel
unbroken and therefor allowing the bare metal to be washed with water without fear of flash rusty.
(note if your panels have had previous repairs the protective coating on the steel will have already been broken and will require immeditae drying before priming).

As IB also use soda on interior parts, it's a simple process of giving the item a quick wipe with a damn rag or wash off with
water and the part is perfectly clean and ready to fit or repaint.
